Specialised in the banking and financial areas, Antoine Maffei carried out several transactions in asset finance, project finance as well as capital markets operations.
Admitted to the Paris Bar in 1989, he holds a Master of comparative jurisprudence from the Law School of New York University (1970) and a PhD in law from the University of Ghent (1969). He began his career in New York with Dewey Ballantine 1970 to 1972, before spending six years at the World Bank in Washington D.C. until 1978. He then joined the Banque Française de Commerce Extérieur, first as Head of the aeronautics financing division and then as Head of international legal operations (1981-1989) before founding the law firm in 1993 with Charles-Henri de Pardieu and Thierry Brocas. He also acted as arbitrator in several international (ICC) arbitration proceedings and has been involved in major law reform projects.

He was member of the drafting committee of the Hague Convention on securities and member of the drafting committee of the Unidroit Convention on intermediated securities. He is also expert within the Legal Certainty Group and former chairman of EU capital Market Forum of the IBA (2000-2002)
