« Philippe Guibert remains the sole head of DE PARDIEU BROCAS MAFFEI’s competition practice since former co-head Emmanuel Durand left at the start of 2021 to join DWF. The firm made up for his loss by promoting former counsel Laetitia Gavoty Tolot and Alexandre Eberhardt-Le Prévost to partnership in June 2021. Counsel Sofia El Hariri and six associates round out the team. The firm assisted Alliance de la Presse d’Information Générale (APIG) in its complaint challenging Google’s alleged abuse of dominance over neighbouring rights, which ended in June 2022 when the French Competition Authority accepted Google’s comprehensive framework for negotiating payments and gave up its right to appeal against a €500 million penalty for non-compliance with interim measures. De Pardieu also secured the European Commission’s Phase I approval for Derichebourg’s purchase of rival metal recycling company Ecore Group, conditioned on the sale of several sites and related contracts in France. Before the French authority, the firm obtained conditional clearance for Altice’s sale of leading domestic telecommunication towers operator Hivory to Cellnex. Behavioural work includes assisting public railway operator SNCF and Parisian subway operator RATP in an abuse of dominance probe triggered by a complaint from Alstom, as well as representing Swiss food groups Coop and Bell in appeals against the French enforcer’s Charcuterie cartel decision. De Pardieu also acts for Allianz in a preliminary reference case before the European Court of Justice related to claims against former French business tycoon Bernard Tapie over alleged anticompetitive practices supposedly implemented during the sale of Adidas back in 1992. »
